CR7! The goal machine.

“I think that it’s a fair figure. If Manchester United and Real Madrid agree this amount then there is nothing more to say, I will show that the money they are paying has been a good decision.”

Those were the words from Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro when he vowed to justify his world record £80m transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid in summer of 2009.

Florentino Perez, Real Madrid President was criticized for breaking the bank to land the Portuguese winger at a time the global economy was struggling…..
Two years on, the former Sporting Lisbon star has broken several records at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Has he justified the cash Perez splashed on him?

Last weekend, he broke the previous La Liga record of 38 league goals in a single season which was jointly held by Telmo Zarra (Athletic Bilbao) 1950/51 season and Hugo Sanchez (Real Madrid) 1989/90 season with his brace against Almeria thus taking his league tally to 40 goals for the season. This landmark achievement of 40 equals Gerd Muller’s feat for Bayern Munich in 1971/72.

The former Manchester United star scored six hat-tricks in the La liga this season despite playing 34 league games.

It is interesting to note that the Madeira born forward has surpassed Ferenc Puskas 49 goals of 1959/60 season which was a club (Real Madrid) record. His total tally of 53 goals this season is one more than Ballon d’or winner Lionel Messi who still has a chance to equal or surpass it in the UCL final.

Congratulations to a predator forward who perhaps has justified his worth as an exceptional player in his era.

Goal machine... ever celebrating goals

Love him or loathe him, Cristiano ranks among the best that have ever played the game.

Ill always maintain my stand on CR7 coz he as justified his abilities by playing in 3 different leagues and maintaining his brilliance. He’s the best in the game and doesn’t need media hype to claim his position as one of the greatest of his kind.

Indeed he is a world class player. He has played three different leagues and has excelled. I admit that Messi is a great player too but i feel CR7 is a classic player. He is an outstanding performer. He has indeed justified his pay.

Like, Like, LOVE in fact! He is absolutely amazing, and he has such a competitive spirit, even with his own self, you just know that he’ll definitely try to outdo himself in later years.

I don’t think Man U/Fergie deserves any credit on this one, it’s all HIM – CR7! The Man, the Myth, the LEGEND! Nobody else that we’ve “groomed” has gone on to such greatness. If anything, their careers pretty much fizzled out 5 years post-United, except Beckham that just refuses to become irrelevant. smh
